Full Plot Summary of The Matrix

Thomas Anderson is a man living two lives. By day he is an average computer programmer and by night a hacker known as Neo. He has always questioned his reality, but the truth is far beyond his imagination.

Neo is contacted by legendary hacker Morpheus, who reveals that the world as Neo knows it is actually a simulated reality called the Matrix, created by sentient machines to subdue the human population while their bodies are used as an energy source.

Morpheus believes Neo is "The One" who has been prophesied to end the war between humans and machines. As Neo trains to harness his abilities within the Matrix, he must confront the agents who protect the system and make choices that will determine the fate of humanity. The Matrix explores themes of reality, free will, and the nature of consciousness.
