The Great Debaters

Set in the 1930s, this film tells the true story of Melvin B. Tolson, a passionate and politically engaged debate coach at Wiley College, a small African-American school in Texas. Tolson works to develop his students' skills in argument and public speaking, guiding them to become a competitive debate team. Despite facing racial discrimination and limited resources, the team rises to prominence and eventually challenges the prestigious Harvard debate team, making a significant impact in the world of collegiate debate.
