Full Plot Summary of The Dark Knight
With the help of allies Lt. Jim Gordon and DA Harvey Dent, Batman has been able to keep a tight lid on crime in Gotham City. But when a vile young criminal calling himself the Joker suddenly throws the town into chaos, the caped crusader begins to tread a fine line between heroism and vigilantism.
The Joker's anarchic campaign of terror forces Batman to question everything he stands for. As the Joker orchestrates increasingly elaborate schemes, he targets those closest to Batman, pushing the Dark Knight to his limits.
Harvey Dent's transformation from Gotham's White Knight to the villainous Two-Face illustrates the film's central theme: that anyone can fall from grace given the right circumstances. The Dark Knight explores the nature of heroism, the thin line between order and chaos, and what it truly means to be incorruptible.
