In 1793, during the French Revolution, Charette, a young man who has recently retired from the Royal Navy, returns to his rural hometown. Over the past three years, the local peasants have grown increasingly restless and angry under the revolutionary turmoil. They look to Charette to lead their uprising against the oppressive forces. Within a few months, this former sailor transforms into a charismatic and strategic leader, organizing a diverse group of peasants, deserters, women, elderly people, and children into a strong fighting force. Detailed Synopsis of Vanquish or Die
1793, French Revolution. For three years now, Charette, a young man retired from the Royal Navy, has been back home. In the country, the anger of the peasants rumbles: they call on the young retiree to take command of the rebellion. In a few months, the idle sailor becomes a charismatic leader and a shrewd strategist, bringing in his wake peasants, deserters, women, old people and children, of which he makes a formidable army. The fight for freedom has only just begun.
