After losing her neglectful parents in an earthquake in India, a young British girl is sent to live with her uncle in his large, isolated castle in England. Her uncle remains emotionally distant, still grieving the death of his wife a decade earlier, leaving the girl feeling neglected once more. Seeking comfort, she starts exploring the vast estate and finds a locked, abandoned garden. With the help of a boy who works as a servant on the property, she begins to restore the garden and, through this process, uncovers additional hidden secrets within the manor.
Detailed Synopsis of The Secret Garden
A young British girl born and reared in India loses her neglectful parents in an earthquake. She is returned to England to live at her uncle's castle. Her uncle is very distant due to the loss of his wife ten years before. Neglected once again, she begins exploring the estate and discovers a garden that has been locked and forgotten. Aided by one of the servants' boys, she begins restoring the garden, and eventually discovers some other secrets of the manor.
