Short Cuts

Set in Los Angeles, this film follows several loosely connected characters whose lives intersect in unexpected ways, inspired by Raymond Carver's stories. Doreen Piggot, a waitress, accidentally hits a young boy with her car, and although she leaves the scene, the boy soon falls into a coma. At the hospital, the boy's grandfather shares stories about his past affairs with his son Howard. Meanwhile, a local baker becomes aggressive toward the family after they fail to collect the boy's birthday cake, adding tension to the unfolding events.
