Kingdom of Heaven

After the death of his wife, Balian, a skilled blacksmith living in France, discovers that he is the illegitimate son of a nobleman. He is drawn into the complex world of medieval politics and religious conflict when he travels to Jerusalem during the time of the Crusades. There, Balian becomes involved in the struggles for control over the city, facing challenges from both political rivals and the ongoing holy wars that threaten the fragile peace in the region.
