For the Moment

Set in 1942 Manitoba during World War II, this Canadian film tells the story of a young farmer's wife named Lill (Christianne Hirt), whose husband is away fighting overseas. Lill becomes involved in a secret romance with Lachlan (Russell Crowe), an Australian pilot training under the British Commonwealth Air Training Plan in Canada. While Lachlan is not engaged in his flight training, he quietly courts Lill, despite the risks involved. Meanwhile, in another part of town, Betsy (Wanda Cannon), a mother supporting her two children through bootlegging, becomes romantically involved with Zeek (Scott Kraft), an American flight instructor. The film explores these intertwined relationships against the backdrop of wartime Canada.
