Although the museum's board of directors wants to fire him due to his incompetence, the chairman, who likes Bean, prevents this. To embarrass him, the board sends Bean to Los Angeles to represent the museum at the unveiling of a historic painting. Unaware of their intentions, Bean must manage the event successfully to avoid losing his job, while also helping a struggling Los Angeles curator who is at risk of being fired as well.
Detailed Synopsis of Bean
Childlike Englishman, Mr. Bean, is an incompetent watchman at the Royal National Gallery. After the museum's board of directors' attempt to have him fired is blocked by the chairman, who has taken a liking to Bean, they send him to Los Angeles to act as their ambassador for the unveiling of a historic painting to humiliate him.
