Michael and Karen Carr, a happily married couple living in a suburban neighborhood, call the police after Karen is threatened with a knife during a failed home robbery. Officer Pete Davis, one of the responding officers, takes a special interest in their case and helps them install a new security system. Grateful for his assistance, the Carrs invite Pete to dinner, and an unexpected friendship forms. However, Pete, who is lonely and emotionally unstable, becomes increasingly obsessed with Karen. His fixation turns dangerous, putting the Carrs' safety and marriage at serious risk.
