Ugetsu

Set in 16th century Japan during a time of civil war, the story follows two peasants, Genjuro and Tobei, who sell their earthenware pots to soldiers in a nearby village despite a local sage's warning that profiting from war could bring misfortune. Genjuro becomes obsessed with gaining wealth and pursuing a mysterious woman named Lady Wakasa, while Tobei dreams of becoming a samurai. Their ambitions put both themselves and their wives, Miyagi and Ohama, at great risk, threatening to destroy their lives and relationships.
