Quick Synopsis
Li Lin, a rebellious and free-spirited young woman, and Wu Ai-hua, her quiet and introverted best friend, grow up together in a military dependents' village. Both develop feelings for He Kang, a pilot and their childhood friend. When He Kang dies in a plane crash, the village becomes a painful reminder of their loss. To move on, Li Lin and Wu Ai-hua leave the village for Taipei, where they find work—Li Lin as a hostess and Wu Ai-hua as an accountant—earning money from American soldiers on leave from the Vietnam War. At a club, they meet Michael, an American flight instructor who shows strong interest in Li Lin. Despite Michael's persistent efforts, Li Lin, still mourning He Kang, turns down his proposal. After following different paths, Li Lin and Wu Ai-hua eventually return to their childhood village, reflecting on their shared past and the connections that shaped their lives.
