In this sequel, the evil wizard Gargamel creates two mischievous creatures called the Naughties, who resemble Smurfs, hoping to use their magical Smurf-essence for his own power. When he learns that only a real Smurf can provide the essence he needs, and that only Smurfette knows the secret spell to transform the Naughties into real Smurfs, Gargamel kidnaps Smurfette and takes her to Paris. There, he has gained fame as the world's greatest sorcerer. Papa Smurf, along with Clumsy, Grouchy, and Vanity, must travel back to the human world, team up with their friends Patrick and Grace Winslow, and rescue Smurfette.
