The Happening

In the northeastern United States, a deadly airborne virus begins to spread rapidly, causing widespread panic. Elliot Moore, a high school teacher, and his wife Alma decide to leave the infected cities and seek safety in the countryside. As they travel, they try to understand the cause of the outbreak, considering possibilities such as a terrorist attack, an accidental release of a military biological weapon, or a more mysterious origin.
