After Ashley asks for a divorce, Carey, who is generally kind and easygoing, turns to his close friends Julie and Paul for emotional support. During this difficult time, he learns that Julie and Paul maintain their happy relationship through an open marriage. However, when Carey becomes involved in their arrangement and oversteps boundaries, it causes serious problems and disrupts the dynamics among all three of them.
