Set in the 1970s in the coastal village of Kunchon, the story follows two best friends, Choon-ja and Jin-sook, who are part of a group of women divers known for their ability to dive without equipment to collect seafood for their livelihood. Alongside Jin-sook's brother and a man named Hammer, they rely on this traditional work to support their families. However, as industrial development increases with the construction of factories near the beach, the women find it increasingly difficult to continue their fishing. Facing limited options, the divers and ship crews turn to smuggling as an alternative means of income. Over time, the smuggling operation grows beyond what Jin-sook's family can manage, leading to tensions that disrupt the once peaceful life of their village.
