The Japanese Ministry of Public Welfare selects Mr. Takazawa to participate in a trial for the Z-001, a new computerized hospital bed equipped with robotic functions designed to perform nursing tasks more efficiently than human caregivers. While the machine is intended to improve patient care, Haruko feels uneasy about relying on technology that cannot understand or respond to human emotions.
