Ray

Ray Charles was born on a sharecropping plantation in Northern Florida and lost his sight at the age of seven. Encouraged by his determined mother, who urged him to be independent, he discovered his talent for music through playing the piano. As he toured the Southern music scene, his soulful singing earned him recognition, and he eventually achieved international fame by blending gospel and country music in a unique style.
