Komaki, a woman in her thirties, decides to leave her husband who is an aspiring writer but remains unemployed. After their divorce, she returns to her hometown of Kyojima, located near Tokyo, bringing along her young daughter, Non-chan. Struggling to support herself and her child in the expensive city, Komaki looks for a way to earn a living and decides to open a small bento (lunch box) shop as a new start.

Komaki is a thirty-something woman that has had it with her perpetually unemployed aspiring writer husband. Following the divorce, she moves back to her Tokyo-area hometown of Kyojima along with her young daughter, Non-chan. However, she has a difficult time making ends meet in big city Tokyo. Her solution? Take a chance and try opening her very own bento (lunch box) shop.
