Quick Synopsis
"My Influences" is a short film directed by Albert Serra as part of the "Spaces #3" project commissioned by the Thessaloniki International Film Festival. This project involved seven internationally recognized directors each creating a short film from their own homes, reflecting on the changes brought by the quarantine period. Inspired by Georges Perec's book "Species of Spaces," the filmmakers were instructed to use only their immediate living environments, including people or animals present, and to limit outdoor shots to areas such as terraces, gardens, balconies, or stairwells. Serra's film contributes to this collective exploration of personal and confined spaces during a time of global isolation.
Detailed Synopsis of My Influences
In “Spaces #3”, 7 internationally acclaimed directors shot, after commissioning by the Thessaloniki International Film Festival, a short film at home, making their own timely comment on the new reality that we live in. The project is inspired by the book “Species of Spaces” by the French novelist, filmmaker, documentalist, and essayist, Georges Perec and the days of quarantine. The idea is to create a film at home, using the environment, the people or the animals in that space. The only outdoor areas that may be used are outdoor living spaces, such as the terrace, the garden, the balcony and the stairwell. “My influences” is Albert Serra’s submission.
