George Washington McLintock, an aging rancher who built his large farm from the ground up, faces several challenges both at home and in his community. Various people, including government officials and local Native American groups, are trying to claim parts of his land. While managing these disputes, McLintock is surprised when his wife, who left him two years earlier, comes back. However, her main concern is not rekindling their relationship but gaining custody of their daughter.
