Quick Synopsis
Pip, an orphan living in early 19th-century England, learns from the lawyer Mr. Jaggers that an unknown benefactor has provided funds to make him a gentleman. As he reconnects with Miss Havisham, the wealthy but reclusive woman who raised him as a child, and Estella, the beautiful girl he loves, he discovers that Miss Havisham has become mentally unstable after being abandoned on her wedding day. She has raised Estella to be emotionally distant and to break hearts, shaping the complicated relationships between them all.
