Good Bye, Lenin!

Alex Kerner's mother, a devoted supporter of East Germany's communist regime, falls into a coma just before the Berlin Wall collapses. When she wakes up months later, Alex fears that learning about the political changes and the fall of East Germany could cause her serious health problems. To protect her, he creates an elaborate effort to maintain the illusion that the old regime still exists, carefully hiding the truth about the reunification and the new reality in Berlin.
