Quick Synopsis
James, a wealthy hedge fund manager, is convicted of fraud and sentenced to serve time at San Quentin prison. Given one month to prepare before starting his sentence, he realizes he lacks the skills to survive in prison. To get ready, James asks Darnell, a black businessman with a clean record, for help. Although Darnell has never been in trouble with the law, he agrees to train James for prison life. Throughout this process, both men challenge their assumptions about each other and themselves, leading to unexpected personal growth.
Detailed Synopsis of Get Hard
When millionaire hedge fund manager James is convicted of fraud and sentenced to a stretch in San Quentin, the judge gives him one month to get his affairs in order. Knowing that he won't survive more than a few minutes in prison on his own, James desperately turns to Darnell-- a black businessman who's never even had a parking ticket -- for help. As Darnell puts James through the wringer, both learn that they were wrong about many things, including each other.
