Quick Synopsis

On November 25, 1988, four young men kidnapped Furuta Junko and held her captive in the home of one of them. During her 41 days of captivity, Junko was subjected to repeated rape, torture, and humiliation, with no chance to escape. The captors forced her to deceive her parents by telling them she was safe, which delayed the police investigation. After a game of mahjong solitaire, the captors brutally beat her with an iron dumbbell and set her on fire using lighter fluid, leading to her death from shock later that day. To conceal their crime, they encased her body in cement and buried it in a drum, which they then disposed of on reclaimed land in Koto, Tokyo. This case, known as the 'Concrete Encased High School Murder Case,' shocked Japan and brought attention to the severity of the crime.
