Ichigo Kurosaki is a high school student who leads a mostly normal life in his hometown, except for his unusual ability to see ghosts and his unclear memories of his mother's mysterious death during his childhood. His routine changes dramatically when he encounters Rukia Kuchiki, a Soul Reaper responsible for guiding spirits to the afterlife, which pulls him into a world beyond his understanding.
