Adaptation.

Charlie Kaufman is a screenwriter living in Los Angeles who feels overwhelmed by self-doubt, sexual frustration, and low self-esteem. He also struggles with the presence of his twin brother Donald, who freeloads off him and has his own screenwriting ambitions. Charlie is tasked with adapting Susan Orlean's book "The Orchid Thief" into a screenplay, but as he works on it, his life becomes increasingly complicated and unusual. The story follows how Charlie's experiences, Susan Orlean's book, and their respective quests for passion and meaning become interconnected in unexpected ways.
