A City of Sadness

Set in Taiwan between 1947 and 1987, the film follows a family caught in the midst of the "White Terror," a period of political repression carried out by the Kuomintang government against those suspected of communist sympathies. The story explores how this prolonged crackdown affected the lives and relationships of the family members as they navigated the challenges and dangers of living under an oppressive regime.
